PUBLIX STREET SIDE MURAL

Screen printed porcelain tile mural for the historic renovation of the Publix Hotel. Porcelain tile
screen printed with original signatures from hotel registry and Japanese-inspired floral arrangements. The Publix Street Side Mural is an homage to the historic Publix Hotel in Seattle’s International District.

After WWII, a Japanese-American family managed the Publix Hotel for many years. The plant arrangements were influenced by the grandmother, who kept a rooftop garden. The background names are signatures from the original registry pages of the hotel circa 1928 – 1945.
